Meet Sarah and Patrick F.
Dear Birthparents,
We are so grateful to you for putting so much care into your decision and getting to know us. We don’t know where you’re at in processing this journey, but we understand there’s a lot of different feelings and emotions involved–we’re having them too.
Our first dance at our wedding was to Jason Mraz’s song “I Won’t Give Up.” We vowed to not give up on each other, and as we enter into adoption we vow to not give up on you and our future family.
Us
Our story began on a retreat at Miami University, but it wouldn’t be until 8 years later that our paths crossed again–over tacos, margaritas and plenty of queso. From this chance encounter, we began intentionally setting up outings with our group of friends to see each other, and a month later had our first official date. A year after that, we got engaged back where we first went on that retreat, and then married later in 2016. Our first step in building our family was to adopt our yellow lab, Doxy, who has helped fill our house with love.

Coming from big families (Sarah is one of six kids, Pat one of three), we always pictured growing our family naturally, but after years of trying to conceive and suffering a miscarriage, we realized it may not happen the way we originally planned it. Rather than lose hope, we found adoption to be a joyful silver lining in our fertility struggle– leading us here to you! Everything we’ve gone through in the last few years has made us stronger as individuals and as a couple. We have a lot of love to give and we cannot think of a more special way to share it than becoming parents through adoption.
Meet Sarah
Family comes first for Sarah, and she has grown up with five built-in best friends (yes, all are redheads). Having siblings, nephews, and her parents nearby is a blessing and allows for plenty of fun adventures together and an incredible support system.

As a child, Sarah’s passion was sports — playing soccer, basketball, and track in high school. Fall is her favorite season with the leaves changing color, sweatshirt weather, and Sundays watching football! Her love of sports transitioned into her career as a middle school Physical Education teacher.
Sarah loves to relax, especially during her summer break, with reality tv, taking walks around town, working out, and traveling. Five words to summarize Sarah are empathetic, laid back, driven, joyful, and loving. As our family grows, Sarah will embrace it with all the love she has to give.
Meet Patrick
Faith comes first for Pat, and he tries to live that out daily. He’s been deeply impacted by his community involvement, but especially his 14 years serving with a local youth ministry program and 10 years with the local Rape Crisis Center. Sports (especially Cleveland sports) is a close second for him and a huge part of who he is. With fond memories of family vacations during his youth, Pat’s love for travel grew even more while studying abroad in college. Pat looks forward to planning future trips for Sarah and their family that allow them to experience not only different places, but different cultures.
Life wouldn’t be the same without our yellow lab, Doxy.
Pat’s fun-loving, inclusive personality draws people in immediately. He’s the life of the party, but more importantly the kind of friend everyone hopes to have. Since Covid began, he picked up woodworking as a hobby and has turned the garage into his woodshop. He loves taking on a variety of home projects with his new talent.
We have a lot of love to give and we cannot think of a more special way to share it than becoming parents through adoption.
We’re excited to get the chance to grow our family in this way, and look forward to providing a loving, safe, stable, adventurous and fun home!

Our Family At a Glance
We live in Lakewood, Ohio, and love our quick walk to Lake Erie.
We’ve been married since November 2016.
Sarah is a Middle School Physical Education teacher, and Pat is a health insurance project manager.
Our hobbies include traveling, cheering on Cleveland sports teams, walking our dog, relaxing on our porch, and spending time with friends and family.
We believe that you are brave beyond belief and we are so thankful to you.
