Meet Molly & Chris D.

Dear Birthparents,

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about us.

We’re Molly, Chris, and Maisie. We married in 2017, but we started dating in high school.

We both decided to work in our hometown to be close to family and have our children grow up in a close-knit community. Most of our siblings, cousins, aunts/uncles, and parents live within 30 minutes. We love planning parties and get-togethers to spend time with them, including helping host the annual Family Pig Roast. This family tradition dates back to the ’80s and brings everyone together.

Adoption blessed our lives in 2024 when Maisie joined our family. She is the definition of joy. She laughs, plays, and is determined to never meet a stranger. We visit and talk to her birth family often.

Molly, on Chris: “Chris is kind, thoughtful, loyal, and witty. He brings excitement and love to every new thing in Maisie’s world.” Here, he and Maisie are looking at deer tracks.

We love being outside year-round. Hiking with our dog Rosie, swimming in the family lake, bonfires, skiing, fishing, sledding — anything that gets us outside. Maisie loves books, so reading and visits to our local library are quickly becoming family favorites, too.

Our home is a three-bedroom, one-story ranch built by Chris’s paternal grandparents, and it is one of six houses on the family farm property. Today’s ‘farm’ is a shared outdoor space for our family and friends with a 4-acre lake for swimming and boating, a pavilion, woods, and a giant playset.

We are surrounded and supported by our large and extended family and spend a great deal of time with them. They are excited to welcome another child into the fold.

Chris, on Molly: “Molly is caring, loving, and compassionate. No matter what she and Maisie are doing, you can see how much joy they bring each other.”

The love and connection open adoption has created in our family with our daughter Maisie is indescribable. We are so excited to become a family of four through adoption!

Our Family At a Glance

We live south of the Cleveland, Ohio, area.
We’ve been married since 2017, but started dating in high school!
We work as an elementary art teacher and a police detective.
Our hobbies include reading, skiing, games, and playing outside.
We believe adoption opens the door to tremendous love and deep connections that we look forward to sharing in the coming years.
