Meet John & Katie H.

Adoptive family

Dear Birthparent,

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us. We have had adoption on our hearts for a few years and are excited for the potential opportunity to welcome a child into our home in the near future.

A little bit about us

Even though we grew up less than a mile apart, we didn’t meet until the summer of 2012. We were introduced, quickly became inseparable, and were married in October 2013. After 10 years of moving around the country due to John’s military service, in 2020 he received a job opportunity allowing us to relocate back to Ohio and plant permanent roots near our families.

We both have large families, most of whom live within 15-20 minutes of us — and we are close, spending time with them weekly for family dinners and activities. We also have numerous close friends with small children living near us and enjoy spending time with their growing families. Our families have instilled in us strong family and moral values, preparing us to raise a family of our own.

Wonderful parents for your child
At a Notre Dame football game. We both love attending sporting events, especially football and baseball games.

About John. I grew up in a small village near Springfield, Ohio, with my parents and three brothers. I played recreational sports and participated in youth activities in church. I earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Wright State University, served in the Air Force, continuing my career on active duty, and later earned a master’s degree in management from the University of Oklahoma.

Currently, I teach acquisitions for a Department of Defense university. I enjoy watching sports, reading, traveling, playing video games, and spending time with my family.

About Katie. I also grew up in a small community near Springfield, Ohio, with my parents and two older brothers. I enjoyed soccer, tennis, creative writing, and reading. I earned a bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in English from Bowling Green State University and have taught for 14 fulfilling years. I love working with young people.

In preparation for growing our family, I currently work part time as a professional home organizer, and I also volunteer. I love helping others. In my free time, I enjoy reading, working on DIY projects, gardening, cooking, and baking for family, friends, and neighbors.

Loving couple wants to adopt
Myrtle Beach trip. We love the adventure of travel: exploring and hiking in Ohio, our annual trips to the beach trip in summer and to Hocking Hills in fall. We have visited many states, too.

Our Home

Our home is located in a quiet subdivision near Beavercreek, Ohio. Our large fenced yard is a safe place for play, and our neighborhood, which has paved walking trails, is located next to a community park with soccer fields, basketball courts, a large playground, an outdoor workout facility, and food truck festivals. Our neighborhood is great for families, with children of every age. There are lots of activities, including the annual Easter egg hunt, and brand new state-of-the-art school facilities. We look forward to trips to the library, playing games in the park, and participating in holiday celebrations in our community.

Thank you.

We promise to give your child the best educational opportunities available and a life full of experiences to help them become a kind, compassionate, and successful adult. We’ve witnessed first hand the importance of open adoption and how it benefits the child, the birth family, and adoptive parents. We would be happy to answer any questions you have about us and our family. We look forward to getting to know you.

With love,
John and Katie

Our Family At a Glance

We live in the Dayton, Ohio area. We’ve been married since October 2013. We work as an educator/professional organizer and a professor of contracting. Our hobbies include being active outdoors, attending concerts and sporting events, reading, and spending time with family and friends. We believe open adoption is in the best interest of everyone involved, particularly the child. We want our child to know their story and maintain a strong and meaningful relationship with their birth family.
