Meet John & Katie H.
Dear Birthparent,
Thank you for taking this time to learn a bit about us. Years ago, our hearts led us to adoption as the way to grow our family, and we were blessed to adopt our daughter, Rosie, in May 2024.
Since we were both raised in large families, it has always been our hope to give Rosie a sibling, a dream we hold dear. We have an open relationship with Rosie’s birth family, and would love for our second child to also know who their birthparents are and how much they are loved.
A Little Bit about Us
John: I grew up in a small town near Springfield, Ohio, with my parents and three brothers. I played recreational sports and participated in youth activities in church. I earned a bachelor’s degree in management, and while attending college I served in the Ohio National Guard. I later earned a master’s degree in management, and currently work in contracting and acquisitions for the United States Air Force. In my leisure time, I enjoy watching sports, reading, traveling, playing video games, and spending time with my family.

Katie: I grew up in a small community near Springfield, Ohio, with my parents and two older brothers. I played soccer and tennis but also loved creative writing and reading. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and master’s in English, after which I taught for 14 fulfilling years. I currently stay at home to care for our daughter while also volunteering within our community. When not reading or working on a DIY home project, I love to try new recipes in the kitchen and bake yummy treats for family, friends, and neighbors.

Rosie: Our daughter Rosie was born in May 2024. She has transformed our lives in ways we could only imagine and she is truly our greatest blessing. She is curious, imaginative, outgoing, and active. She loves our dog, Lucy, and plays with her throughout the day. She enjoys dancing along to music, playing with her cousins, attending weekly play groups and trying new activities. Rosie is so caring toward others and will make a wonderful big sister.
Our Home, a Great Community
We live in a quiet subdivision between Fairborn and Beavercreek, Ohio, and have a large fenced yard that is a wonderful and safe place for play. Our neighborhood has paved walking trails and is located next to a community park with soccer fields, basketball courts, a large playground, an outdoor workout facility, and food truck festivals. There are children of every age and many activities for families, such as the annual Easter egg hunt. Our city has brand new state-of-the-art schools and sport facilities, and our community offers exciting activities for children, including many holiday parades and festivals throughout the year. We enjoy trips to the library, playing games in the park, and participating in holiday celebrations in our community.
Rosie loves our dog, Lucy, and plays with her throughout the day.

Our Family at a Glance
We live in the Dayton, Ohio area.
We’ve been married since October 2013.
We work as a stay-at-home parent and a contract specialist.
Our hobbies include being active outdoors, attending concerts and sporting events, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
We believe open adoption is in the best interest of everyone involved, particularly the child. We want our child to know their story and maintain a strong and meaningful relationship with their birth family.
