Meet Daniel & Lauren W.

Adoptive family
Fall walk with our dog, Nori

Dear birthparents,

We are beyond grateful to you for taking the time to learn more about us. We are in awe of your bravery and advocacy as you determine the best plan for you and your child.

Our greatest hope is to become parents. Over our last 3+ years of fertility struggles, our guiding mantra has always been “goal equals family.” We fully trust that through open adoption, we will find the child we were meant to have.

Love, honesty, and communication are at the core of our parenting philosophy, and we are so excited to discover who this little person will become. We promise that our child will always know their origin story and how your selfless actions made us a family.

Our Story
We met and fell in love in Boston in 2014, bonding over shared values and a love of food and family. To this day, our favorite rituals include cooking; dancing in our kitchen; singing silly songs with our dog, Nori; going on family walks and bike rides; and sharing a daily moment of gratitude.

There was no question that we were meant for each other, and we married in a joyful New England wedding in 2017. Two years later, ready to start a family, we moved across the country to Daniel’s home state of Ohio after finding our dream home. We love that our urban community offers the quality of life we envisioned for our future children.

About Lauren: Daniel has always said that loving and nurturing is in my DNA. I grew up in Portland, Maine and took an interest in childcare from a young age. I studied French and Art in college before pursuing my Masters in Speech Language Pathology. I’m now working in my dream job as a speech therapist in a French immersion school: a perfect blend of my passions! We are grateful that I am able to work part time and have summers off, so I can maximize time caring for and creating memories with our child.

About Daniel: Lauren always tells me that I express my love through acts of service. I grew up in Dayton, Ohio, to parents who instilled the value of caring for others. At the end of a long day, I love to cook a meal for my family and unite at the dinner table. I can’t wait to help our child carve their own path and pursue their passions, just as my parents allowed me to do.

Loving couple wants to adopt
Making pasta in our kitchen: a favorite pastime!

We live in Grandview Heights, just 2 miles from downtown Columbus. We love that our children will be able to develop independence in a safe, diverse community with top-ranked schools and walkability to the library, parks, and playgrounds!

Our child will have the best network of family and friends to love and support them. Daniel’s parents, siblings, and their children are all within an hour of us. After a year of COVID separation, Lauren’s parents moved to Columbus because they didn’t want to miss out on another moment together. Lauren’s brother and sister-in-law live in Chicago, and we visit each other frequently. Everyone is so excited for us in our adoption journey.

We’re proud to have created a home where friends and neighbors drop by unannounced. On a typical weekend, you might find us making a meal for family and friends, going hiking or to a farmer’s market, or meeting up at a soccer or baseball game.

Our Hope
We promise to provide a nurturing home for our children to explore, take risks, make mistakes, learn, and grow. Above all else, we hope to nurture generous, kind, and confident children who will always know just how loved they are.

With gratitude,
Daniel and Lauren
