adoption profiles of waiting families

Dear Birth Parents,

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a little bit about me.

I’ve always known I wanted to become a parent. After my divorce, I explored many paths to parenthood. Following a lot of reflection, I chose adoption, and I am genuinely excited and hopeful about this path to building a family.

I’ve built a home filled with warmth, stability, and a great deal of love, and I’m ready to welcome a child into that space. I value kindness, emotional safety, curiosity, and laughter. I believe in giving children room to grow into who they truly are, while providing the structure, presence, and unconditional love and support they need to feel secure.

A Bit About Me

I grew up in Michigan and moved to Ohio to pursue my doctorate. After graduating, I opened a mental health private practice when I saw the need for specialized treatment for OCD and trauma. My work is incredibly meaningful to me — I love knowing I help people reclaim their lives and feel more like themselves again.

At home, I’m happiest hosting friends and family — cookouts on my deck, game nights, movie nights, and lots of laughter. I love being outdoors hiking or biking in the local metro parks, and I spend many summer weekends at our family lake house swimming, boating, and jet skiing. Traveling is also one of my biggest joys. I love learning about new cultures through food, language, and everyday life – my most recent adventures took me to Paris and Curaçao.

Home Sweet Home

I love my home in Ottawa Hills for its blend of city life and nature. My five-bedroom house overlooks the Ottawa River and a nature preserve. I regularly see birds, deer, and other wildlife right outside my windows. Across the street is a beautiful metro park where I take daily walks, and just down the road is a botanical garden. Within ten minutes are a wonderful art museum, baseball and hockey stadiums, the zoo and aquarium, playgrounds, and concert venues.

A large deck spans the back of the house and overlooks a hill in the yard that is perfect for running, rolling, or sledding. The schools are ranked among the top three in the entire state.

My Promise to You

If chosen as an adoptive parent, I promise to provide a home where your child will be loved fiercely and where they feel safe to explore the world, make mistakes, and grow into themselves. They will be surrounded by family, friends, and community who will embrace them with joy, love, and enthusiasm.

Once the little one is born, I plan to take time off to be fully present during those early months. When I return to work full time, the child will be cared for by a bilingual au pair, providing both attentive caregiving and the gift of early exposure to a second language and culture.

I want you to know that your child’s story will always begin with you. I will speak about you with respect and gratitude and honor your role in their life. I am committed to openness in whatever form feels right for you — whether that’s ongoing updates, letters, pictures, visits, shared traditions, or building a relationship slowly over time. If you would allow me, I would be honored to take this journey with you.

With respect and gratitude,
Erin
