Meet Kari & Tom D.

Dear Birth Parent(s),

Thank you for taking this time to learn a little about us. It has always been our dream to have a big family, and it is adoption that will make that possible for us. We adopted our sweet baby boy Maverick in 2021, and we are ready once again to give our unconditional love to another child and to expand our family through the miracle of adoption.

We are Kari and Tom. It is a pleasure to meet you!

We have been married for almost ten years — wonderful years filled with love and adventure. Being parents is the greatest gift! We grew up in loving families and had siblings to share special memories with, and we would love for Maverick to have a sibling to love, spend time with, be mischievous with, and get to share special moments with, too.

Thankfully, our jobs are flexible, so we can stay home with Maverick when we need to. We have a huge support network to help care for him when we are at work.

Loving our time at the beach together

We love our time with Maverick — playing pretend, singing silly songs, reading his favorite books, going to the park and the zoo, taking walks around the neighborhood, and sitting down to dinner together each night. Sometimes a dance party breaks out after dinner. We can’t wait to share these joys with another child. We have much more love in our hearts to give!

Meet Tom, By Kari: Tom is kind and intelligent with a splash of comedy. As a father, he has shown me what unconditional love is. He has a heart of gold and was truly born to be a dad — our son loves him so much! Tom is my rock and I know as long as we are together, we can accomplish anything. His favorite activities with Maverick include playing with Hot Wheels, Legos, and sports in the backyard.

Meet Kari, By Tom: Kari’s love for our son shows through all the care she provides him. Kari has a gentle touch and provides a calming and safe space when our son is not feeling well. She is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and this is even more prominent now that she is a mom. Her favorite activities with Maverick include coloring, building blanket forts, and playing with his dinosaurs.

Home Sweet Home Our home is a bi-level with three bedrooms, two and a half baths and a spacious basement, located on a quiet cul-de-sac. Our deck and fenced-in back yard are great for entertaining, and friends and family visit often. The neighborhood is full of families of all ethnic backgrounds. We live close to bike paths, shopping, restaurants, churches, and hospitals.

We adore our two dogs, Archer and Rusty, and consider them family! Archer is a lazy Beagle Bulldog mix and Rusty is a playful Beagle Collie mix. Maverick loves hugging and playing fetch with them, and they think their greatest job is to protect our whole family.

Our Family At a Glance

We live in the Dayton, Ohio area. We’ve been married since April 2014. We work as an Executive Assistant and a Registered Nurse Manager. Our hobbies include playing games, reading, traveling, and spending time as a family. We believe that God has a plan for everything, and he has led us to open adoption, as this is what is best for everyone involved in a child’s life.
