Meet Joe B. & George S.
First off, we thank you for taking the time to learn about our family. We became parents in 2016 to our daughter, Mary, through adoption and we had a great adoption experience. We absolutely love being dads and very much want the opportunity to grow our family and be ‘dads’ to another child.
We admire your courage and recognize the love for your child as you consider an adoption plan. That being said, we are very excited to have the opportunity to tell you a little about ourselves in the hopes that you will consider us as potential adoptive parents.
We spend many weekends hiking on trails near our home.
What Makes Us Different (and the same)
As a gay couple, we recognize that we are different from many of the other possible adoptive parents you may consider. However, like all other hopeful adoptive parents, we share the same goal of providing a loving and supportive family for your child, just like we were both lucky enough to experience growing up.
We live south of Columbus in a rural community, very close to the family farm where George grew up. We love animals (big and small) and we share our home with our cat Rudy and our dog Rosie Red. As Mary gets older, we also plan to have more animals (horses and cows in particular!). Joe and George had lots of animals growing up and look forward to sharing those experiences with our children. Joe’s family is also close by in Southwest Ohio, near Dayton.
For us, our families are the most important part of our lives. We spend a lot of time with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, including annual family trips. We also get together regularly for birthdays and holidays.
As Mary gets older, we plan to have more animals (horses and cows in particular!)
We share a love of travel, the outdoors, and cooking together. We live near the base of the Appalachian Mountains and spend many weekends hiking on trails near our home. We also love travel and think it’s very important that our kids learn about the world. We have traveled across the US and also traveled to parts of South America and Europe.
Joe works remote in IT for a software company. The remote work gives Joe a lot of flexibility to take care of family. George is a tax attorney and works in his office in Columbus some days, and works remote other days, which also gives him flexibility to focus on family time.

We wish you all the best and we appreciate you taking the time to get to know us. We look forward to hearing from you.
With deepest respect,
George and Joe
Our Family At a Glance
We live in a large old farmhouse south of Columbus near the family farm where George grew up.
We’ve been married since May 23, 2014.
We work to live, not live to work. George, a tax attorney, used to work at a large law firm. Once he became a parent, he switched jobs to work for a large company, where he could work fewer hours and devote more time to his family. Joe works in IT for a large global company based in Europe.
Our hobbies include cooking and traveling. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying new recipes while listening to music and joking and laughing. We also love to visit new places and see new things.
We believe in open adoption and consider ourselves lucky to have an ongoing, open, and healthy relationship with our first child’s mother and maternal grandparents.
